CIIT’s Basic Occupational Safety and Health training continues to gain momentum as more employees take part in succeeding runs.
The initiative began on June 30, 2026, and has continued to build stronger participation among employees. With each session, the program reflects CIIT’s growing commitment to creating a safer, more prepared, and more health-conscious workplace.
Practical Learning for Safer Workspaces
Led by the Human Resources Department through Mikko Hicarte, together with Gilbert Eugenio from CIIT’s Clinic, the latest session brought employees from various departments into a more hands-on discussion of workplace safety.
The workshop moved beyond general reminders by helping participants understand how to spot hazards, assess possible risks, respond during emergencies, and protect their personal well-being at work.

The training combined structured learning activities and group work covering key topics such as Introduction to Occupational Safety and Health, Recognizing Hazards, Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment, and Control (HIRAC), and Emergency Preparedness. Participants were also reminded to be observant and proactive in reporting hazards and risk potentials in the work area.
Safety as a Shared Responsibility
The training reminded employees that safety is not only a policy to follow, but a habit to practice every day. It begins with noticing what others might miss, speaking up when something needs attention, and taking action before small risks become bigger concerns.

Through discussions, structured learning activities, and group work, participants practiced how to recognize hazards, assess risks, and respond with the right actions in their own work areas.
For some, the learning reached beyond campus. Participants shared that the session offered practical reminders they could use with their families and relatives, while others saw its value in campus safety reviews, internal quality audits, governance work, and future policy-making.
With more employees completing the orientation, CIIT continues to strengthen a workplace culture where safety is practiced, shared, and taken seriously, with more training sessions ahead for employees who have yet to attend.
