On April 12, 2025, CIIT students from the Game Production, Social Issues, and Applications of Emerging Technologies classes gathered for the TripleTech Tournaments—a collaborative showcase of skill, creativity, and critical thinking. Organized by the Tech Academic Division, the event transformed Rooms 604 and 605 into spaces for live gameplay, structured debates, and robotics competition.
Spearheaded by industry practitioners and CIIT Tech Instructors Mr. Daniel Kyle Tala, Mr. Denmor Israel Villanueva, and Mr. Christian Allein Pinca, the TripleTech Tournaments allowed students to apply what they’ve learned in class through real-world scenarios that tested their problem-solving abilities, creativity, and collaboration.
TechGame Tournament
In the TechGame Tournament, students from the Game Production class unveiled original games they developed throughout the term. Led by Mr. Tala, this segment was designed to help students apply game design principles in a public, interactive environment. The event served not only as a testing ground but also as a showcase of their creative vision and programming skills.
The highlight of the tournament was the live gameplay sessions, where audiences could interact with the games firsthand. Teams competed in friendly matches and received real-time feedback from judges and peers. Prizes were awarded to the Best Games of the day, and attendees expressed admiration for the polish and innovation of the featured titles. One student even remarked, “This feels like a real indie game showcase,” reflecting the level of quality on display.
TechDebate Tournament
The TechDebate Tournament, led by Mr. Villanueva, featured students from the Social Issues class engaging in thought-provoking debates on technology and its impact on society. Topics ranged from AI ethics to digital privacy—subjects that are highly relevant in today’s digital age.
Through this activity, students were encouraged to strengthen their critical thinking and practice structured argumentation. The goal was to promote respectful and informed discourse, and the outcome exceeded expectations. Debaters were judged based on logic, clarity, and relevance, with awards given to the Best Speaker, Best Team, and Best Rebuttal. Many audience members commented on how impressed they were with the depth of analysis and the professionalism shown by the debaters.
TechBot Tournament
In the TechBot Tournament, students from the Applications of Emerging Technologies class built custom Arduino-powered robots designed for combat-style tasks. Guided by Mr. Pinca, the activity challenged students to apply their knowledge of robotics programming and real-world automation through competitive and gamified challenges.
The robots, built in teams, demonstrated both creativity and technical precision. From obstacle navigation to task-based duels, the tournament revealed how much students had learned about control systems and collaborative engineering. The Champion Team earned recognition for their robot’s performance, and many attendees were surprised by the level of complexity and innovation involved in each build.
Building Real-World Skills in a Creative Campus
With around 60 students participating, the TripleTech Tournaments demonstrated how CIIT’s hands-on learning approach allows students to turn theory into practice. According to Mr. Rizaldy Rapsing, Program Head of the Tech Academic Department, the event was a reflection of the values CIIT stands for.

“TripleTech isn’t just fun and games—it’s proof of how CIIT students bring theory to life,” he shared. “Whether coding games, debating social impact, or engineering smart bots, they’re developing skills that matter in today’s tech-driven world.”
Student feedback was overwhelmingly positive. Many expressed how energizing it was to see their classmates’ talents in action, from the technical complexity of the bots to the polish of the games and the sharpness of the debates.
Looking Ahead
After its successful launch, the TripleTech Tournaments will continue every term, as a platform for students to challenge themselves, collaborate across disciplines, and redefine what’s possible through technology and creativity.
