When dealing with mental health, it’s often reminded that “you’re not alone.” Connecting with the right people can aid you in braving and recovering from issues. We aim to nurture such a supportive and understanding community at CIIT Senior High School.
In this year’s Mental Health Fair on October 29, we engaged the CIITeen community with creative and educational activities that comforted and enlightened them on mental well-being. Through this collaborative event, we hope our senior high students have learned how to practice self-care and support others in their mental health journey.
Creating art has already been a huge part of CIITeens’ academic life. But this time, they harnessed their creative skills in a therapeutic way. To stimulate their artistic minds and uplift their moods, students participated in the painting activity called Canvas of Hope: Paint to Heal – Paint by Numbers. They also experienced the relaxing benefit of coloring mandalas, a geometric diagram or symbol used as a tool for art therapy and meditation.
CIITeens also further deepened their awareness through creative works. They engaged in a poster-making activity themed “It is time to prioritize our mental health.” A film showing concerning mental health was also held, which opened students’ eyes to such issues.
Aside from the arts, senior high students joined puzzle games like sudoku and word search on mental health, meditation, and mindfulness. Such activities are not merely entertaining but also practiced for better memory and concentration.
While they found comfort in arts and games, students became further delighted with treats at the Sweet Corners.
As CIITeens got to sense the wellness benefits from these activities, we also provided private counseling for them to open up about their concerns and further understand their mental well-being.
Such an awareness event was full of mental health resources and informative materials presented to senior high students. There were posters stating facts about mental illnesses. They could also take a free test to learn more about signs of test anxiety so they could be conscious of these and address them.
Through the Mental Health Fair, CIITeens learned about self-care techniques they could practice when feeling stressed or if they simply want to exercise their creativity and have fun. By giving them opportunities to boost their awareness, we sought to let them realize the power of reaching out to handle mental health matters better.
CIIT promotes wellness along with artistic expression and innovative mindset among our students. If you are seeking a safe space to hone your craft with a community of artists and developers, CIIT is here to support you! Check out how our programs help creative minds!
