At CIIT Senior High School, students and teachers came together to celebrate not just their talents in science, language, and sports but also their shared pride in Filipino culture during AGWIKASAN 2024. This year’s theme, “Impetus: The force that drives us, the source of our strength,” set the tone for an unforgettable three-day event where every moment was a tribute to the courage, wisdom, and creativity that define the Filipino spirit.
The heart of this year’s AGWIKASAN was a celebration of legendary figures from Philippine folklore and mythology—heroes like Lam-ang, Alunsina, Aliguyon, Tuwaang, Humadapnon, and Paubari. Each Balai, composed of students, embodied the spirit of these legends, bringing their stories to life through competition, camaraderie, and creativity.
A Celebration of Strength, Talent, and Teamwork
From October 28 to 30, the NBS College, CIIT SHS Ignacia Campus, and CIIT Interweave were abuzz with energy and excitement as students unleashed their full potential in sports, science, and arts.
On the first day, the atmosphere was electric as students showcased their athleticism in basketball, volleyball, and badminton after kicking things off with an energetic Balai showdown and warm-up dancing. The competition continued on the second day, with table tennis and e-sports taking center stage, demonstrating students’ agility, strategy, and teamwork.
AGWIKASAN wasn’t just about physical strength; it was also a test of intellect. The Newton Olympics challenged students to apply their knowledge of physics in creative and fun ways, while the AgSip-Isipan Quiz Bee pushed them to think critically under pressure and showcase their broad general knowledge.
Creativity on Full Display
The second day of AGWIKASAN was a colorful celebration of artistry and creativity. The air buzzed with excitement as senior high students transformed the campus into a hub of entertainment and innovation. Pantheon-Dynamix filled the venue with music and magic, delivering captivating live performances and open mic sessions that showcased their love for the performing arts. Meanwhile, the Drama Club brought out the crowd’s inner singers through their lively videoke setup.
Panel Studios amazed attendees with a stunning exhibit that displayed their visual creativity, while the Couture Club captured everyone’s attention with a thrift shop, reflecting the students’ passion for sustainable fashion. Adding to the vibrant atmosphere, other clubs organized unique booths such as a playful marriage and jail setup, a whimsical photo booth, and even a life-sized board game where students themselves acted as the pieces.
CIITeens also displayed their entrepreneurial spirit by selling their handcrafted merchandise, blending artistry with business savvy to create a truly immersive and dynamic experience.
Cosplay, Community, and Cultural Pride
The final day of AGWIKASAN was a grand celebration of self-expression and community spirit. Students and teachers stepped into the world of imagination, dressing up in colorful and creative cosplays that turned the venue into a vivid display of diversity. The celebration culminated in the awarding ceremony, where winners were recognized, achievements were celebrated, and a sense of pride filled the room.
AGWIKASAN was more than just an event. It was a journey that empowered CIITeens to grow holistically—cultivating their intellect, physical skills, and artistic abilities while fostering a deep appreciation for their heritage.
