As today’s young students will lead the future, school can be a training ground to develop and practice their leadership skills. At CIIT Senior High School, we not only nurture the next generation to be at the top across industries but also lead as good examples to communities.
To empower our young leaders, CIIT’s Student Affairs Office and SHS Supreme Student Council conducted the Far Out IV Leadership Training last October 18. CIITeens who were part of the Student Leaders Network (SLN EXECOM), club and class executives, and the student council collaborated in the skills workshop to learn more about the values and practices of being leaders.
The Far Out Leadership Training was anchored on the organization’s goal of student inclusion and proactive leadership. This year’s training focused on strong inner core development and events management.
During the workshop’s first session, CIITeens further grasped the heart of leadership. It also educated them on advancing visions with inclusivity in mind. As they worked on their visions, they were also told about the significance of uplifting people.
After gaining a better understanding of leadership, the second session encouraged students to apply such lessons on strategic planning and events management. The session also included a product proposal segment, which gave students a platform to share their innovative ideas. As they learned about the best approaches and how to handle uncertainties in organizing events, student leaders became more equipped to implement effective and engaging activities for their fellow CIITeens.
Students also gained valuable leadership insights from none other than the leader of CIIT SHS herself, our principal, Ms. Hazel Angeles. She advised the young leaders on the value of accountability.
All this knowledge shared in the Far Out IV Leadership Training aimed to boost our senior high student leaders’ capacities in guiding and serving the CIITeen community. But beyond the school, being primed with leadership skills can hopefully serve our students when they lead further in the future.
