CIIT Philippines continues to redefine learning experiences by bringing global tech leaders into the classroom. On June 24, 2025, students from the BS Computer Science and BSEMC programs took a leap into the world of artificial intelligence at the AI Journey Workshop, led by Alibaba Cloud Philippines.
Held at Lab 502 in the CIIT Interweave Building, the session was organized in collaboration with Ms. Lumia Lu, Senior Account Manager of Alibaba Cloud Philippines, and facilitated by Dr. Ferdin Joe John Joseph, Senior Training Advisor. With 20 students in attendance, the workshop offered an engaging blend of technical know-how and practical demonstrations focused on cloud-powered AI tools.
A Hands-On Introduction to Alibaba Cloud AI
The workshop opened with an orientation and a comprehensive overview of Alibaba Cloud’s services and infrastructure. Students were introduced to cutting-edge AI tools like Qwen, a large language model, and Wanxiang, Alibaba’s image-generation tool. Through live demos, they witnessed the real-time capabilities of generative AI—sparking both curiosity and deeper inquiry.
One of the session’s highlights was an interactive certification quiz, which allowed students to earn credentials via Alibaba Cloud Academy. At least 10 students successfully completed the certification, and all 20 participants set up personal cloud accounts for ongoing access to learning materials.
Empowering CIITzens for the Cloud-Powered Era
The workshop emphasized the importance of AI and cloud platforms in shaping future careers. As one student reflected, “It’s fun, like an AI show,” while another remarked, “The assurance of Tech people still being relevant at the age of AI is relieving.” The energy remained light and interactive throughout, with students actively participating in Q&A sessions, demos, and account setup activities. This experience not only deepened their technical skills but also gave them early access to a growing ecosystem of global AI tools.
