Good eye health is vital for various activities such as designing graphics or programming in front of a computer screen. Since these tasks are central at an art and tech institution, CIIT Senior High School prioritizes students’ ocular health as they set their sights on creative and innovative pursuits.
In partnership with EO-Executive Optical, the CIIT Clinic Department conducted activities to highlight visual wellness at the “Eye Care For You” health awareness event on August 30, in time with Sight Saving Month. Senior high CIITeens, faculty members, and staff were enlightened on optical concerns through an eye check-up and lecture at the CIIT SHS Library.
A Look in the Eye
EO professionals offered a free digital eye screening service to assess students’ visual health during the event. This initiative aimed to demonstrate the importance of having regular eye check-ups and encouraged participants to prioritize their ocular well-being.
Event attendees also got easier access to procuring their optic needs, as EO’s eye frames and contact lenses were available at discounted rates.
Eye Talk
As senior high CIITeens gained insights into their eye health, they further grasped the value and best practices for taking care of it at the Eye Care For You Talk led by Dr. Jolaine Ashley Vallo.
Dr. Jolaine’s presentation was an eye-opener concerning optic health statistics, as well as vision problems and their consequences. The discussion also gave tips for senior high CIITeens on maintaining healthy eyesight to prevent impairments.
Creative Visuals
The “Eye Care For You” event also saw an opportunity to show the visual artistry of senior high CIITeens. Lapis Club members set up an Eye Collage Exhibit, which displayed their creative eye sketches. The exhibit provided an interesting view to look at alongside perceiving the significance of visual wellness during the event.
