In a heartwarming display of service and creativity, CIITzens from NSTP-LTS Sections 15, 16, and 17 organized a Digital Literacy Workshop aimed at empowering senior citizens with essential tech skills. Held across three dates—March 28, 29, and April 5—the sessions were led by students under the guidance of Ms. Joyce Cocamas and took place at both CIIT’s Main campus and the Quezon City Public Library – Cubao branch.
With the growing importance of digital tools in everyday life, the workshop addressed a critical need: equipping older generations with the knowledge to use mobile phones, computers, and common applications confidently—while also learning how to protect themselves from online scams.
Around 15–20 senior citizens attended, each bringing unique life stories to the classroom, from a former registered nurse to a talent manager and an overseas worker. What connected them was a shared desire to learn—and an openness to explore the digital world.
Meanwhile, young learners at QCPL participated in simultaneous tech learning sessions, creating a beautiful exchange of knowledge across generations. In attendance was Sir Charles Pasicolan of QCPL’s E-Resources Section, who lent his expertise to further enrich the learning experience.
From navigating phone settings to understanding app safety, the sessions were both practical and empowering. The atmosphere was warm, enthusiastic, and deeply engaging—proof that in the CIIT community, learning knows no age limits.
Key takeaway? It’s never too late to learn—and never too early to teach.
Stay tuned for more community-centered initiatives as CIIT NSTP gears up for follow-up workshops in the next academic year.
