CIIT Illuminates PrintCon 2025: Pioneering the Future of Print and Design

From October 9 to 11, PrintCon 2025 transformed the Philippine Trade Training Center in Pasay City into a hub of creativity and innovation, hosted by the PPTF and DTI Philippine Trade Training Center – Global MSME Academy. Amid conversations on PCIDA, AI-driven design trends, and sustainable practices, CIIT Philippines stood out as a trailblazer.

Our student organizations, Gestalt and PixelHive, alongside a captivating BMMA Capstone projects display, showcased the bold vision of CIITzens, proving they are shaping the future of the print and design industry with purpose and artistry.

A Vibrant Showcase of Talent

CIIT’s booth was a magnet for attendees throughout PrintCon 2025, buzzing with energy and creativity. Gestalt drew crowds with their striking posters and zines, each piece a testament to bold design and storytelling. PixelHive added vibrancy with their eye-catching printed stickers and merchandise, which were eagerly snapped up by visitors.

The BMMA Capstone projects display was a highlight, presenting remarkable works rooted in CIIT’s Design for Good philosophy. One of the highlights DING! An Editorial Zine Tracing the Evolution of Filipino Drag, Safe Spaces, and Queer Power, created by Eric Daniel M. Marcelo, Jouzen P. Peramo, Nastassja Kirsten T. Sanchez, and Maxime Reginald A. Velas, celebrated Filipino drag as a powerful art form and a beacon of resistance, advocating for queer identity and safe spaces through a three-volume zine.

Meanwhile, Hinubog sa Dilim: A Concept Art Book Exploring the Visual Development of Creatures in Philippine Fantasy Cinema, crafted by James Albert Lacatan, KC Joyce Luciano, Sean Thomas Silva, and Justine Eirish Ubalde, reimagined Filipino folklore creatures through stunning concept art, enriched by insights from filmmakers. These projects seamlessly blended traditional print techniques with modern innovation, sparking meaningful conversations about advocacy, identity, and cultural heritage.

Beyond the Page: Inspiring Dialogue

On October 11 from 4:15 to 5:00 PM, CIITzens Jouzen P. Peramo and KC Joyce Luciano led an electrifying panel, Beyond the Page: Design, Dialogue & the Power of Print. The session delved into the unique tactility and permanence of print as a medium for amplifying voices and preserving stories. By spotlighting DING! and Hinubog sa Dilim, the panelists illustrated how print can champion advocacy and cultural storytelling, inspiring attendees to rethink design’s role in shaping narratives that resonate deeply.
