COVID-2019 Prevention Measures Outside CIIT

  • We would like to remind everyone that CIIT is not the only public place where one can acquire COVID-2019. As such, we remind everyone to stay vigilant especially in public spaces and when using public transportation.
  • Practice good hand hygiene frequently especially when using public transportation. Wash your hands regularly or sanitize your hands with alcohol, hand sanitizers or with soap and water immediately after.
  • Wearing face masks in public if you are physically well and healthy is encouraged but not required as this will not also protect you 100% from COVID-2019.
  • Avoid touching your face if your hands are not clean.
  • Try to avoid food concessionaires outside of CIIT without any hygiene or sanitary clearances from the government. Standards of cleanliness and safety of these establishments will surely put you at a higher risk.

Soap and Water is the Best Preventive Measure

  • Proper washing of hands means you wash your hands with soap and water for 20-30 seconds. You can sing ‘Happy Birthday’ from start to finish while washing your hands which should last about 30 seconds.

COVID-2019 Prevention Measures

  • All individuals will be required to sanitize their hands upon entry using alcohol. The guard must visually witness you disinfecting your hands. Guards will also be carrying alcohol sprays.
  • All individuals will be required to undergo a temperature check. If your temperature is 37.5 C or higher, a secondary test will be performed.
  • All persons entering CIIT are encouraged to wear masks but not required. Any person who has coughs, colds or flu-like symptoms must wear masks and is required to seek clearance from the School Clinic before the person is allowed to stay inside the campus.
  • CIIT will be cleaning and sanitizing school grounds more frequently especially surfaces with frequent touchpoints particularly the elevator, handrails, fingerprint readers and door handles.
  • CIIT will increase the frequency of cleaning our toilets and ensure that hand soaps are always available in the toilets as the entire community is strongly encouraged to regularly handwash.
  • CIIT will try to install hand sanitizers and alcohol dispensers but this is only an option due to the limited availability. Hand sanitizers and alcohol are also not necessary if we wash our hands regularly with soap and water.
  • We will be working with all our food concessionaires inside CIIT to ensure that they are following strict hygiene and sanitary standards.
  • CIIT will also be establishing an online channel where we, as a community of students, employees, faculty, and stakeholders, can share factual information on COVID-2019.

COVID-2019 Detection Measures

  • We also ask for the support of the community to report any individual who has misdeclared their health history to the School Clinic (email).
  • Individuals who refuse or give false information will be subject to appropriate disciplinary actions or legal actions.
  • If you observe anyone inside the campus showing symptoms, please report it to the Clinic immediately.

What actions will be taken for suspected or infected Persons?

  • Any individual suspected by the School Clinic to be possibly infected can be required to do the following:
  • Be prevented from entering the campus.
  • Be issued an SHN (Stay at Home Notice) for further evaluation

  • Report the individual to the Health Authorities as part of the Clinic Team mandate.

The school Learning Management System (LMS) along with other tools can also be utilized by the Professor to deliver the lesson plan and for the student to also adequately demonstrate that learning is taking place. Major requirements can be submitted online while hard copies can also be sent to the school through drop-off or courier.
  • Students are expected to be responsible and regularly coordinate with their Professors through Canvas during SHN.

How to have fun and still have a life during your 14-day quarantine especially if you live alone

  • If you develop fever or respiratory symptoms and have any travel history, are advised to call DOH Hotline (02) 8651-7800 local 1149-1150.
  • Since your safety is our top priority, the School Clinic will extend as much assistance as possible to any infected individual.
  • Food – stock up on canned or frozen food for at least 14 days. Frozen food is better but canned food is an option if you do not have a freezer.
  • Household Goods – Don’t forget to stock up on 14 days worth of toilet papers, soap, and other hygiene items.
  • Medicine – no need to get it if you are not developing any symptoms. Do call the School Clinic if you start developing symptoms so we can give you proper medical advice. Social media is filled with fake news so we strongly encourage you to ask the School Clinic where we have licensed Doctors and Nurses.
  • Supplies – if you are on self-quarantine even when living with your family, get them or the delivery people to leave the supplies outside your door and walk away after before you get the items.
  • Hygiene – even though you are in quarantine, it is just nice to look good and smell good. So please shower regularly and wash your hands regularly. Clean your table or your room regularly as well.
  • Physical Health – Do not sit down and just play or surf for 14 days. You need to exercise a little or your family might be shocked at how much weight you’ve gained. Do some push-ups or sit-ups. Typing the keyboard all day long is not enough exercise.
  • Mental Health – Stay happy. Call your friends and your family. Call us. You can also schedule Netflix Parties. Invite your friends for online games. The Library will also allow you to contact us and borrow books. Send Grab to come and pick up the books. The Library will disinfect the books upon return especially if you become infected with COVID-2019.

What Actions will be taken to prevent the spread should there be confirmed case/s who entered CIIT?

  • Should the school deem it necessary, a one-day suspension will be announced so that the entire campus can be disinfected.
  • Should the school deem it necessary, a 14-day suspension will be announced to prevent CIIT campus from being a venue for the virus to spread and check if any student or employee contracted the virus and will develop symptoms.
  • CIIT will also be following directives from our LGU and DOH in regards to class suspensions.

How you can help?

  • If you observe anyone inside the campus showing symptoms, please report it to the Clinic immediately (contact details can be found at the bottom).
  • Bring your own hand-sanitizers and masks as the school also has very limited supplies.
  • Stop spreading fake news and information.
  • Each of us has the potential to be infected and spread the virus to everyone in the school so be responsible enough to avoid public places with large crowds and gatherings. Cancel all trips that will require you to be in the airport or other passenger terminals.
