CIIT College of Innovation and Integrated Technology continues to strengthen its commitment to industry-ready education as students from its Information Systems and Computer Science programs successfully earned professional certifications and microcredentials.
These achievements reflect more than academic excellence. They highlight the initiative, discipline, and determination of CIIT students to pursue learning opportunities beyond their regular coursework and validate their skills through industry-recognized assessments.
BSIS Students Achieve 100% Passing Rate in Lean Six Sigma Certification
Students from the Bachelor of Science in Information Systems program demonstrated exceptional performance in the Lean Six Sigma White Belt Certification examination from the CSSC.
Under the guidance of faculty member Israel Villanueva, all 14 BSIS students from the IS212 Business Process Design and Management class successfully earned their certification.
While the required passing score was 70%, every student scored at least 90%, with most achieving a perfect score. Their results demonstrated their understanding of the foundational DMAIC methodology, waste reduction, and structured problem-solving.
This achievement was followed by another milestone as a second batch of BSIS students from the Data Warehousing class also recorded a 100% passing rate in the same certification examination.
Achieving consecutive perfect passing rates required the students to balance their academic responsibilities with additional preparation for an external assessment. Their success reflects their willingness to challenge themselves, strengthen their professional competencies, and earn credentials that can support their future careers.
Villanueva played an important role in training and guiding both batches throughout the certification process. His initiative also marked a significant first step toward incorporating microcredentials into the Technology Programs’ curricula.

BSCS Students Earn Blockchain Microcredentials
Two Bachelor of Science in Computer Science students also successfully completed the DOST-NCR IDS Professional Blockchain Certification Programme and passed separate examinations for two blockchain microcredentials:
- Michael Jacob De los Santos
- Jethro Lagmay
Held online from July 13 to 16, 2026, the program brought together more than 200 participants from across the Philippines for training sessions delivered by blockchain experts from Hedera. Five participants from CIIT, composed of one faculty member and four BSCS students, joined the nationwide program.
The opportunity began with an invitation from the Department of Science and Technology-National Capital Region, which was immediately shared with CIIT’s Technology students and faculty.
Throughout the program, participants expanded their knowledge of blockchain and Web3 technologies while preparing for the required assessments. By completing the training and passing two separate examinations, De los Santos and Lagmay demonstrated their commitment to developing relevant technical skills beyond the classroom.
CIIT has also reached out to Hedera to explore the possibility of keeping the examinations and certifications free, particularly for students. Making these opportunities more accessible would support the institution’s broader microcredentialing initiative and allow more students to earn additional proof of their technical competencies.
CIIT extends its appreciation to DOST-NCR and The Hashgraph Group for providing Filipino learners with access to valuable blockchain and Web3 learning opportunities.
Preparing CIIT Students for Industry Through Microcredentials
Microcredentials allow students to validate specific competencies through focused training and assessments. By pursuing certifications in areas such as process improvement, blockchain technology, and data-driven problem-solving, CIIT students gain additional proof of their skills while preparing for the demands of the technology industry.
These accomplishments reinforce CIIT’s goal of creating more opportunities for students to earn relevant professional credentials alongside their degrees.
Congratulations to all the students and faculty members who participated in these certification programs. Their initiative, preparation, and strong performance show that learning does not stop with completing classroom requirements. For these CIITzens, every certification earned is another step toward becoming capable and competitive technology professionals.
